Samba

The Carnival of Brazil is an annual festival which marks the beginning of Lent, the forty-day period before Easter. It is a Celebration of Rhythmatic participation where all regions of Brazil including African – Brazilian Culture take to the streets in Parades with colorful costumes and festive music.  It’s a six-day party where crowds follow the trio’s electricos through the city streets, dancing and singing. The typical genres of Brazilian Carnival music are in Rio de Janeiro and include the samba-enredo, the samba de bloco, the samba de embalo and the marchinha, in Pernambuco and Bahia the main genres are the frevo, the maracatu, the samba-reggae and Axe music to today’s latest.
